Does GSPCA have a vehicle to collect suffering animals?

Dear Editor,

I was on the East Bank public road exactly opposite to where the new banks are being constructed, outside the exhaust repair shop and saw an old, sick, mangy dog, barely moving, lying by the side of the road. I got the GSPCA’s number and called and was put onto a lady who promptly replied that they had no vehicle, sorry, and hung up.

Later that day, I was by the Mon Repos market and saw another dog similar to the one on the east bank – mangy and old, and barely could hobble around. Whom do I call to put these poor animals out of their misery? I called Ms Manbodh who unfortunately is not in Guyana. Who else would rescue these animals?

They will have to continue their miserable existence until she comes back or maybe some speeding vehicle will do the job? I cannot imagine how the GSPCA keeps on telling the public to call them and on every occasion I have done so they never have an available vehicle. Are they just satisfied to operate like this?

Yours faithfully,
N Bisnath
